Malawi Turns a Corner on Solving Its Deforestation Crisis

World Vision Malawi has been promoting Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) since 2014. In 2015, it hosted the ‘Beating Famine Conference’ in partnership with the World Agroforestry Centre and the Alliance for Climate-Smart Agriculture in Africa. The event which was attended by 550 people from 28 countries explored strategies for expanding FMNR and other sustainable land management practices in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals. Today, FMNR is being promoted through WV Malawi Area Programs and grant projects.
