Lessons on Supporting Gender Inclusive Interventions

A policy brief is highlighting the important contribution of women farmers, and the need for them to be supported and acknowledged during the climate policy process.

The Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CGIAR) has released the brief titled “Supporting women farmers in a changing climate: five policy lessons.” It outlines research-based guidelines and several key recommendations regarding gender inclusive interventions for agriculture and food security.

Key messages include the need for recognition of women’s capacity as farmers and innovators, the importance of listening to women as part of the policy-making process, and a call to move climate policy processes beyond numerical representation of women.
