FAO releases The Global Forest Resource Assessment
The rate of world deforestation has slowed over the past quarter of a century, as forests have been better managed, according to the Global Forest Resource Assessment 2015, released by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). The FAO study, which covers 234 countries and territories, also finds that forests now make up 30.6 per cent of the world’s land areas.
